The HO games have some twists in that sometimes you have to solve a riddle to figure out what HO you are looking for, and in some you have to pick up pairs of objects at a time. In most of the games you find items that help you perform other actions in the scene, for example, you find elements of a salad and then make the salad. Some of the items are hidden behind other objects in the scene and you must feel around with your cursor to figure out what needs to be moved to find the item.

There are a good variety of mini games, but some are more challenging than others. The card games are rather boring, but I enjoyed a labyrinth game and the mahjong ones. There is one game where you have to fix a face in your mind in one scene and then recreate it from memory in the next that was unique.

Ir's a relaxed game, untimed with ample chances to get hints, but you probably won't need too many of them.

I downloaded this game as a trial-with-ads from another site, and was considering buying it from Amazon (which has a much better price) until I got stuck on level 6.

First of all, this is really a very good HOG - it's a very long game with many locations to explore. The objects are (mostly) difficult but not impossible to find, and each room has a few items that have crossword-like clues (rather than names) that require a bit of thought. The game is timed, but there is no penalty if you run out of time. Moreover, as you collect ankhs along the way, you unlock additional games - Luxor Classic, Luxor Match-3 and Endless Search and Find, so you're really getting four games for the price of one.

A few objects are a bit *too* well-hidden (I couldn't see them even when I resorted to the hints), and some are hard to click - I'd resort to the hints, only to see that I'd found the object but hadn't clicked on the right part of it. It doesn't help that the cursor is a big, clunky bejewelled thing and you can't opt out of it. Most of the mid-level mini-puzzles are ridiculously easy, and I wasn't crazy about the storyline - it's a bit too mystic-weird for my tastes.

It's the marble-shooter that ruined the game for me. Every level ends with Luxor Classic, and you have to win before you can go to the next level - there is no way to skip past it. I have no hand-eye coordination and simply could not beat this thing. There is no way to remain stealth, but that's the only way to have a crowd control.

The first thing I hated - HATED, that you have to perform a hand to hand combat kill first in order to do a selected multikill - that limitation is so stupid - the huy is a pro for God's sake...

Another dumb part is that the guy has to "buy" things when he can simply take them - why? because everybody around him is already dead.

The graphics, once again compare to Batman AA this game has so poor/gloomy graphics (I'm running it on high) and besides that I didn't see 1920X1080 resolution in the settings. Batman looks much more exciting.

STORYLINE... Well, I don't know what to say - I guess they just picked one of those good old Commando ideas... So not inspiring. (eg. Hitman games got a cool storyline. AC 1 got great storyline. AC II got okay storyline... Batman... blah blah blah)

I played this game for one hour and went totally cold to it. However, if you're completely bored and have absolutely nothing else to do... well, it's not one of those old fashion first person shooter games where you have a vertigo after 30 min or so :)

Maybe hyperbolic, but I really feel this is the best game I've played so far.

It's a hidden object game where finding objects and gathering an inventory is a lesser aspect of the game. More interesting and challenging is what you have to do with the inventory you collect. There are several locations to explore and you have to go back a few times to most of them. You really need to think what inventory object to use and how to use it when you encounter a situation or problem in a location, and inventory picked up much earlier in the game may not come into play until well into the game.

The inventory objects are not just located in the hidden scenes, but in some of the locations; for example, all the VHS tapes are outside the HO scenes. I admit to checking a blog walk through after playing for a length of time just to make sure I had found everything and performed all the tasks.

The mini games are also top notch and include a maze-like alphabet game that I thought was especially clever.

The storyline involves four grad students searching for the truth about a Celtic legend in the town of Dire Grove. As others have mentioned, you collect about 18 VHS tapes that tell the story in snippets of what has happened to the students. I didn't find the short films as scary as four scenes involving each student that occur within the game itself. But no spoilers on that! The whole game takes place in a snowy environment that I found particularly immersive for some reason.

My only regret is that I didn't know there was a deluxe version of this game before I got the standard version. Although I usually have no desire to replay a game that I know the conclusion of, I have to say I would consider buying the deluxe game after some time passes. That's how much I liked this game.

I am like an old lady burbling away, maybe because I am an old lady. "Treasure Seekers" is not only a treat for the eyes, the artwork being beautiful, it is also an excellent hidden objects game that will appeal to everybody including that bright eyed kid beside you. It is the perfect game to play with your child, but not so easy as to be a pushover. So old and young can play it with mutual contentment and joy.

Nelly, our heroine, a personable young lady with spectacles on her nose, is trying to find her brother Tom who has mysteriously been trapped in a remote castle in Romania. Nelly must work her way through six magical paintings, each a separate story in which she helps a person in distress, such as a genie in the very first painting, trapped in Aladdin's lamp. Of course Nelly has to free the genie so that he becomes human again. She restores many trapped ghosts into real people again as she travels on her quest. She restores a werewolf to her human shape and meets a decidedly aristocratic vampire, a pirate and King Arthur.

As she progresses from inside one painting and its story to the next, Nelly has many tasks to perform, which could be turning the lamp on in a lighthouse or repairing a bridge to finding a magic medallion under the sea. She will gather tools and objects to help her with the various tasks she must perform and often has to go in and out of several areas to find everything required.

In each scene Nelly must find and click on a " key object" that produces five or six little circles containing a black and white picture of each object she must collect in order to use the key object. These objects are well hidden but they are to scale for that particular scene and also appropriate to each particular canvas theme.

The mini-games are not all that easy and make a nice diversion as well as being fun. Nelly has to solve sequence puzzles, tangrams, matching pairs and others. The games can be skipped if you like but they're pleasant and interesting.

You can play in Casual and Advanced mode. In Casual the hint mechanism charges much more quickly and if Nelly is having trouble finding something the game will oblige you by putting up a circle of little bright stars right where you need to click.

"Treasure Seekers" is charming, not earth -shattering but charming, a game that will appeal to virtually all casual gamers, including children. If you don't use too many hints or skip the mini- games, the game should take about five hours. Perhaps you may feel it's a bit short but it is certainly worth $6.99! I loved it!

I purchased this game on Sunday and was finished with all of it (and no, I did not play continously) by Thursday. There are a total of 25 levels but they are so easy it takes no time to get through them. The "puzzles" consist of color matching, walking through a maze with a map, and matching sequences. Besides searching for the dream pieces there really wasn't much to find. Even if you do get stumped trying to find an object, all you have to do is roll your mouse around and it will show you where the item is.

After reading the great reviews, I was disappointed. The game was not awful, just average. The story line was hokey but the animation was beautiful. The puzzles were simple but if you did not get the correct solutions, you could just keep clicking until you did. I have the first game, so I didn't bother downloading the demo to see if it would work on my computer, I just figured it would. haha, it didn't. Every time I tried to open it I would receive an error message saying the hardware failed to switch. I tried running my compatibility wizard, to no avail. So I was very bummed, because I just bought this game I couldn't play. I went into my control panel and switched my resolution from 1280 X 800 to 1024 X 768, just as a last resort. The game loaded! :) Once it was loaded I was able to go into the options and switch it to run off of 1280 X 800, (it was automatically switched to 1024 X 768 and apparently has to run on that setting until you switch it) and when I switched my computer back it seemed to accept the settings. I exited and reloaded it, to see if it would work, and it loaded up with no error messages. So (knock on wood) I think I fixed the problem and I just wanted to post it so that if you download the game and can't load it maybe this will help. Empress of the Deep [Game Download] Decide Now

This is not as good as other games I've played (like Dire Grove). The idea was interesting but the artwork wasn't as good or clean as it could have been. The story was predictable and though one "helper" was obviously trustworthy and the other was not - you could not choose to ignore the sketchy one. The voice acting (of the one girl who played 3 different characters) was pretty terrible. Lastly, both the hidden objects and the puzzles were painfully easy.

Cryostasis Demo [Game Download] Get it now!

I saw that Amazon.com had Cryostasi available as a downloadable game for a great price. I'd heard good things about this game and the demo was available, so I thought I'd give it a try. What a dog it turned out to be.

Firstly I cranked all the graphics setting to their highest in the options menu. I have a nice gaming system that gives me great frame rates with most of the newest games(LFD2, Bioshock 2 etc...)maxed out graphics wise. I usually start there and adjust down if needed. I normally don't need to. After I had done this with Cryostasis and started the game, first thing that happened was my system froze... Or so I thought. A couple of seconds later, it went to another frame, seconds later another, etc... I knew right away this was going to be a dog. I turned the graphics down quite a bit and still had a choppy frame rate.

Combat was chunky. Graphics looked awful. I tried playing for a few minutes and decided it wasn't worth suffering through to see if there was anything interesting about this game. I'm so glad I tried the demo first. Even at the low Amazon price of about $6.50 for the full game, I would have felt like I flushed that money down the toilet.

I went back to read the reviews of the full game and found out a lot of people were complaining about the same things I was with this demo. So I'm pretty certain the full game would be just like the demo. Glad I saved my money.Get more detail about Cryostasis Demo [Game Download].

How great that you get to try these games for 30 minutes for free. IMO, enough time to decide to buy or not. I knew this one was for me. It is just challenging enough but not too hard to overly stress you. I like that not all the levels are the same type of game. The graphics are beautiful. I played thru all the levels 3 times before moving on to another game. That was many many hours of entertainment for $6.95. Virtual Villagers 4: The Tree of Life [Game Download] Review

VV4 is similar to the previous versions but this one is extremely Pantheistic. It focuses on the "Tree of Life", which is almost dead and the villagers must heal it. To do this they must first restore the water flow to it from the blocked stream and remove an infected limb; there are stages of healing. Then they must "purify" their minds by using transcendental meditation ("only the pure of mind and body can purify the tree") and taking a soapy bath (for which you figure out how to create the soap). They must also "honor the tree", and "contemplate the tree" (worship it). Basically Eastern mysticism. The tree is deified as the source of life in this game. You can also build a school for the villagers but you cant choose what they are taught; they are taught reading, writing, music, and magic. There is also a mausoleum in the game and one of the goals is to collect all 12 of the missing tiles which make up a very creepy picture composed of what look like skeletons with hideous faces which are pulling people down into the grave/hell. I found this part to be very morbid, sinister, creepy, just plain disturbing- and would not want this for a child. The focus on death in this particluar game included having the ghosts of deceased villagers randomly appear in the game (as spirit guides to "hidden" objects).

Like previoous versions of VV, there are three levels to achieve in the game. Unfortunately, once all three levels in each area are reached, there is nothing much left to do with all the tech points you have left over! One is left wishing that there were more than just three levels for each area (areas include Science, Building, Learning, Dendrology, Medicine, and Food).

The graphics of the game are wonderful and even beautifully done, with some very unique, inventive, and challenging goals to figure out as well. However, as it advanced it began to feel like the goal of the game's creators was indoctrination in Eastern religion or Pantheism. Or, it may all just be marketing towards the interest that kids often have towards ghosts and magical or supernatural things.
